Jan Akervall, M.D., Ph.D, was born in Sweden, and graduated from Lund University Medical School in 1990. He finished his residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, was board certified and defended his Ph.D thesis in 1998. Dr. Akervall completed a two year fellowship at Department of Otolaryngology, University of Michigan, in Oncologic Surgery and microvascular reconstructions 2000-2002. He became Associate Professor at Lund University in 2003 and served as Director of the Head and Neck Division at Lund University, 2003 - 2004, before moving to Michigan. He is currently Partner in the Rontal-Akervall Clinic, Farmington Hills, and is Medical Director for Translational Research and Clinical Director, BioBank, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Akervall has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has received numerous awards for his research.
He has two U.S. patents, one for a surgical cancer procedure (2002) and one for a panel of genetic markers to predict response to radiation therapy (2008). In 2007, he published the book "Smart Health Care" which describes how he increased efficiency at Lund University Hospital in Sweden. Dr. Akervall is co-founder of Akervall Technologies. |

Johannes Schwank, Ph.D, was born in Austria and was recruited to University of Michigan for his postdoctoral studies in 1978. He received his PhD degree in Chemistry from Innsbruck University, Austria, and is currently professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Michigan. He also is the founding Director of the Transportation Energy Center at University of Michigan, and served as chairman of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Michigan 1990-1995. He has published over 150 scientific papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and has received numerous scientific awards. He is currently contracting with the United States Army and the United States Department of Energy to develop new alternative energy sources. He regularly teaches energy-related short courses for NASA, the US Army, and Industry, and has consulted on nanotechnology for the Saudi Arabian Government and major multinational companies. Professor Schwank has recently been invited to testify before the United States Congress on issues related to the hydrogen economy. Professor Schwank has 8 U.S. patents in the fields of catalysis, and microelectronics. Professor Schwank is co-founder of Akervall Technologies. |

He initiated and runs United Pediatrician Association, a non-profit organization that helps pediatricians to lower prices and get better deals on medical equipment and medications/ vaccines. Stephen Shulman, Bsc has founded and developed several successful companies in the medical device field, Fiberoptic Sensors and PadPro being two of them. He has been President of a publicly traded company, has 41 years experience in running medical device companies from positions in sales, marketing, and manufacturing. Presently, he is managing partner in TissueSeal LLC. Mr. Shulman is co-founder of Akervall Technologies. |

Dr. Cynthia L. Fee, D.D.S., M.S. received her dental degree from University of Michigan Dental School in 1991 followed by a post-graduate degree and residency in Orthodontics in 1994. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan and currently serves as a Board Examiner for the State of Michigan. Dr. Fee has also been involved with organized dentistry for years as a board member of the Detroit District Dental Society, and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, as well as being a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontists. Dr. Fee currently practices clinical orthodontics in private practice and additionally enjoys spending time with her own family and three active children. |
