Protech Dent Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a way to loosen the Protech DentTM mouth guard once its molded and ready to use?

This could be the consequence of the mouth guard covering too much of the gums. Everybody's teeth and gums are different and you need to personalize the mouth guard for your mouth. Dip it into hot water and start all over again. When you bite down on the soft material this time, make sure you get less material up on the gums. Your teeth might be sensitive to pressure. The mouth guards fits well but you just want it to be slightly more lose. Just bend the fitted mouth guard open a little bit and try it again. It can easily be loosened by gently bending it open after the fitting process. A third option is to create less suction when you fit the mouth guard. The stronger suction the tighter fit.

How do I get it Protech DentTM to mold around the back teeth?

This is easy to fix. Start all over again and this time make sure you bite down on the soft material in such a way that most of the material is on the outside of the back teeth. Remember, Protech DentTM is more of a shield. It does not need to wrap around on the inside. While the material is still soft, bite down gently to fixate it, and mold it with your fingers and tongue. Mold it up on the outside of the back teeth (molars). If you need more attempts, just start over again.

I get small bumps on the outside of the mouth guard. How do I get rid of them?

This is also easy to fix. After molding the mouth guard, while the material is still soft, just press your finger tips on the bumps and the material will get smooth.

What do I do if the mouth guard is too long?

Every individuals mouth is different; some have long jaws and some shorter. Just cut the hard material before or after fitting and smooth the edges with scissors or by pressing on them when the material is soft.

My mouth guard is almost perfect, how do I fix the one area doesn't fit well?

There are two ways to fix this: Either just dip that part into hot water and readjust it in the mouth, or start all over again and redo the entire piece. I have a question I can't find the answer to here. Email us at info@akervalltechnologies.com
